Beginning of April

 I am excited for April because it is my birthday month and I am planning a trip home for my 21st. Also, it is starting to warm up here. I was not expecting it to be so hot in Colorado, but here in Grand Junction I am basically in a desert so the temperature is about what it is back home in Columbia it is just super dry. Lately it has been in the low 70s which is my favorite temperature. Also, I think this is the best time to snowboard before the snow completely melts in the mountains, so I am crossing my fingers that I will get the opportunity to do that because time is running out. Finals are also approaching fast so I am starting to study more and will hopefully be able to finish out the semester strong. Vaccines for COVID are finally becoming available in Colorado to everyone now too so I am hoping that I will be able to get mine in the coming weeks.

    Happy birth month, Nic! I have not been to Colorado before, but I would not expect it to have similar temperatures as Columbia, so that’s pretty interesting to hear. I hope you are able to get your vaccine soon and also plan a trip to snowboard before the snow melts!

Week of March 14

 This week has been pretty tough and it’s been hard to focus on school but I got to go to Estes National Park for a campus retreat over the weekend. It was a lot of fun because I got to meet new people and I was able to finally see a good bit of snow. There was probably about six inches of snow which was the most I have seen in a long time. I also had a final for one of my half semester classes and I am a little worried about it but hopefully I was able to do well.

Why NSE?

 I chose NSE because it was a great opportunity for me to travel and gain new experiences while studying away without having to go abroad. It also gave me the opportunity to find schools with my major (exercise science) which I could not find with study abroad. There were three school in NSE that had my major a school in Alabama, a school in Massachusetts, and the one I chose Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado. I decided to go to CMU because I wanted to leave the south east and I love the outdoors and mountains so I knew I would have a great time, although I am still not prepared for how cold it is gonna be. My application to NSE was basically on a whim though, I found out, applied, and did all my paperwork the weekend right before it was all due. It was a bit of a scramble to try and get it all done, but I figured that if I could finish it all and get accepted in that short of a timeframe then it was meant to be. Arches National Park

 On Valentine's day I was able to go visit Moab, Utah which is about two hours away from Grand Junction. There are two National Parks there and I got to go into Arches National Park. It was absolutely beautiful and like nothing I had ever seen out east. There were lots of red rock formations and obviously arches made from the formations. It was really interesting because it is in the desert, but there is also mountains and snow around, too. These are some photos I was able to take to remember it. To be honest though I now understand the phrase pictures do not do it justice more than ever.
