Beginning of April

I am excited for April because it is my birthday month and I am planning a trip home for my 21st. Also, it is starting to warm up here. I was not expecting it to be so hot in Colorado, but here in Grand Junction I am basically in a desert so the temperature is about what it is back home in Columbia it is just super dry. Lately it has been in the low 70s which is my favorite temperature. Also, I think this is the best time to snowboard before the snow completely melts in the mountains, so I am crossing my fingers that I will get the opportunity to do that because time is running out. Finals are also approaching fast so I am starting to study more and will hopefully be able to finish out the semester strong. Vaccines for COVID are finally becoming available in Colorado to everyone now too so I am hoping that I will be able to get mine in the coming weeks.

March

The rest of March has been kind of a blur of school work. I started doordashing as a job which has been good because I was having trouble finding a job in Grand Junction. I also was introduced to spike ball and have gotten a chance to play it with some friends a couple of times and that has been fun. I have been playing a good bit of volleyball too. It feels like I’m getting to the point of the semester where classes are getting pretty tough and have really picked up but I think I should be able to keep up I just have to stay focused.

Week of March 14

This week has been pretty tough and it’s been hard to focus on school but I got to go to Estes National Park for a campus retreat over the weekend. It was a lot of fun because I got to meet new people and I was able to finally see a good bit of snow. There was probably about six inches of snow which was the most I have seen in a long time. I also had a final for one of my half semester classes and I am a little worried about it but hopefully I was able to do well.

Week of March 7

This week feels about the same as last week. I did get my grades back for my genetics and Kinesiology exams and got B's on both of them! However, I also had a Physics exam this week and I am probably the most nervous about it of all the exams I have taken this semester so far, so fingers crossed I did well. I also kept playing Magic the Gathering with friends and Friday night I got to play poker with a few people and that was really fun I did not do that good, but it was still a good time. I am planning to take a trip on the Colorado National Monument soon so I will definitely post pictures when those come in. And this week I booked a flight to come back to Columbia for a week in April for my birthday which I am really excited about! I have not missed my family and friends super bad, but it will be great to see them.

Week of March 1st

This week has been pretty chill overall. I had a genetics exam on Friday that I am a little nervous about,  and a Kinesiology exam that is due Sunday but hopefully I will do pretty well on them. I am also still trying to catch up in a couple classes but should be back on track soon! For fun this week I have been playing a card game called Magic the Gathering with a few friends that I have made through my church. That has been a nice way to relax and hangout when I am not busy with school work so I have been grateful for that. Hopefully, soon I can have the opportunity to see some other places in nature like the Grand Mesa and even go snowboarding or skiing!

Arches National Park

On Valentine's day I was able to go visit Moab, Utah which is about two hours away from Grand Junction. There are two National Parks there and I got to go into Arches National Park. It was absolutely beautiful and like nothing I had ever seen out east. There were lots of red rock formations and obviously arches made from the formations. It was really interesting because it is in the desert, but there is also mountains and snow around, too. These are some photos I was able to take to remember it. To be honest though I now understand the phrase pictures do not do it justice more than ever.

Update on Life at CMU

The last couple of weeks have been pretty crazy. I had to get tested and quarantine because of COVID twice back to back weeks! It was pretty stressful and I was by myself for over a week the second time, definitely not my idea of a good time. But thankfully today I was able to go back to my classes and be around people again. I am hoping to get back on track with everything soon and keep getting to explore the area and meet new people! This week I have an exam and an eight page research paper due though so I know it is gonna keep me busy.
